Vancouver, B.C. (10 June 1999)--- The south Pacific nation of Tuvalu is doing it's part to help the Kosovar refugees in the Yugoslavia crisis. The Tuvalu Philatelic Bureau has just announced that it will be issuing a special set of overprinted postage stamps to raise funds for the tragic plight of the displaced people.

The May issue of the Philatelic Bureau TPB Newsletter announced that 28,000 postage stamp sets would be produced by overprinting previous bird definitive stamps, consisting of the values of 20c, 35c, 55c and $1.00. The exact wording of the overprint has not been released, but 50% of the sales will be donated to a humanitarian organisation dealing with the crisis. The stamps are scheduled to go on sale 11 June 1999, and are expected to sell out.

According to the Philatelic Bureau, "It is our sincere hope that the human spirit of kinship, love, and care would transcend all barriers of race and enthnicity, colour and religion for the betterment of all human kind, and eventually resolve the crisis." (in Kosovo).
