AIR PACIFIC TERMINATES AGREEMENT WITH MAJOR DOMESTIC CARRIER, AIR FIJI
SUVA, Fiji Islands (January 27, 2000 – Radio Australia)---Fiji's national carrier, Air Pacific, has terminated its interline agreement with domestic carrier Air Fiji.
Neither airline has given a reason for the decision.
However, Radio Fiji reports that tension has been developing between the two airlines since Air Fiji expanded its services to the Pacific Islands last year.
Air Fiji signed an agreement with Tuvalu to operate a new service and also began a new service between Suva and Tonga.
Radio Fiji says Air Fiji's regional expansion is seen as a threat to Air Pacific's continued long-term viability.
