National Squad readies to leave for Melbourne

Tuvalu's national squad for the Pacific School Games in Melbourne is due to leave Fiji today for Melbourne where the 2005 Games will be held.
The team of 22 consists of four officials, 14 athletes, and 4 support officials. The team is lead by team leader, the General manager of Tuvalu Coperative Society Mr Monise Laafai; Coach Mr Nakibae Kitiseni; Assistant Coach Mr Robert Laupula; Finance manager and Ministry rep Mr Avafoa Irata.
The athletes include U10 Suamili Seve, Metia Lotoala, Motualofa Loleni; U11-Malofou Jason Suamalie & Moliga Sioni; U12- Laiti Tulafono, Loloma Sam & Auiluma Lotoala; U13&14- Lapua Tuau, Asenati Elika & Nelea Faiaki; 17+- Malie Tulaga, Polapola Keli & Milineta Lepeni.
Okilani Tinilau, who is already in Australia, will join the squad in Melbourne this week, as well as Salutu Paulo who attends a Cathedral School in Brisbane, will be joining the squad as well later on this week.
The support team includes parents Penieli Lotoala, Malama Seve, Leata Loleni and Sam Panapa.
The squad will leave Nadi this evening for Melbourne and just a sight of their all-blue Tuvalu printed uniforms is enough to bring tears to any Tuvaluan anywhere.
According to Laiti Tulafono, "they are here to get golds..." and that's just what they will do!
