New High Commissioner To Fiji Appointed

The new Tuvalu High Commissioner to Fiji, Seve Paeniu has presented his credentials at Government House in Suva on Tuesday (22 Feb).
Mr Paeniu obtained his Bachelor of Commerce in Economics in 1987 from Canterbury University in Australia, his Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Hawaii in 1995, and was a Doctorate candidate at the University of Hawaii in 1998.
He started his diplomatic career as Assistant Planning Officer at the Ministry of Finance with the Government of Tuvalu from May 1988 to August 1989. From September 1989 to December 1993, he became Director of Planning with the Finance Ministry.
He became the Economic Consultant with the Asian Development Bank for the Republic of the Marshall Islands from May to July 2000.
The same year, he was transferred to Tuvalu as the director of economic research and policy division at the Finance Ministry.
He became permanent secretary for the Ministry of Education and Sports from January 2002 to August 2003.
He was then transferred to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Industries where he became the permanent secretary......Fiji Times/PNS
