Three leaders, including a Tuvaluan, nominated for top Pacific Forum job
Date: August 6, 2008
Three Pacific leaders have been nominated for the post of Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General.
They are the former attorney general of Samoa, Neroni Slade; the Cook Islands foreign affairs minister, Wilkie Rasmussen and the former attorney general of Tuvalu, Feleti Teo, currently the forum's acting secretary general.
The position became vacant earlier this year after Greg Urwin resigned due to ill health.
Forum chair and Tongan Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele, says forum leaders will appoint the new secretary general at their retreat in Niue later this month.
